What is Wing Chun? Wing Chun is an extremely effective martial art (made more well known recently by the movie of Bruce Lee's teacher, Ip Man). The Wing Chun System, known for its incredible speed and powerful straight punches & Chi Sao (contact reflex training), relies on angling & body mechanics rather than brute force. "Our hope is that you may find something here that might spark an interest or provide a catalyst for you to start on the road to self-discovery. Or perhaps you might come away with a new or different perspective on your goals, your dreams or your training such that it allows you to move to the next stage, if you are already on that road." - Sifu Dana Wong. "Qian Li Dao" means "the way of hidden talent" or "the path to latent ability". Achievement & Potential lie just beneath the surface - be willing to see them for yourself. Stu Dunn Stu Dunn began martial arts at the age of 15, learning Ninjutsu for about 5 years. After deciding that Ninjustsu was very good (against street style attacks) but lacked defence verus another martial art, Stu then took up Zen Do Kai for 3 years as a way of gaining experience in sparring. Stu also found Zen Do Kai excellent but wanted something more - a martial art that did not depend on strength and one's ability to take hits (or perform leg checks that require a large amount of shin conditioning). | In 1999 Stu began working in Melbourne, where he began his Wing Chun training under Sifu Dana Wong. It did not take long for him to decide that this was the martial art he had been looking for: a smart practical principle-based style that did not rely on strength, uses two arms at the same time, every defence included "giving something back" and of course Wing Chun has chi sao (contact reflex). |
